Wainoni Pak’nSave GRP Fuel Tank Installation

Client:
Fletcher Construction
Location:
Christchurch

Seipp were engaged to assist with installation of a new GRP fuel tank at Pak’nSave, Wainoni after another contractor had tried and failed.

The previous contractor's methodology produced excessive vibrations during installation of sheet piles, and impacted the operation of the supermarket and nearby residences (including shaking houses off foundations).

Our approach and performance on this project is an excellent example of the expertise of Seipp Construction’s in-house design department and the benefits of access to specialist plant and equipment.

Our designers produced a temporary works design, which we then tested, carrying out trials to establish maximum vibration levels using our ultra-modern City Vibrators. The trials were highly successful. Even at the closest proximity to existing structures, the introduced vibrations did not exceed 50% of the tolerable acceleration threshold.

We also provided and installed a state-of-the-art dewatering system. Using this, we were able to remotely control and monitor the equipment, and super silent pumps minimised disturbance to nearby homes and businesses.

With our access to industry-leading resources and expertise, we were able to successfully support Fletcher’s installation of the GRP tank, when other contractors could not.
