Travis Wetlands Replacement Box Culverts

• Excavation and installation of 2.5m x 1.5m box culverts
• Temporary works – sheet piling and coffer dam

Project Description

This project took place within the environmentally sensitive Travis Wetlands.

Our Project Manager worked closely with Downer NZ’s Design Engineer to develop solutions to achieve efficient delivery. This resulted in our redesign of sheet pile shoring which eliminated the need for a whaling beam. Our innovative approach saved materials, accelerated the programme and reduced overall project costs by 10%.

Despite extremely challenging ground conditions and then necessity for stringent environmental controls, the project was completed in three weeks, which was half of the originally programmed time.
