Gala Street Stormwater Upgrade

Client:
Invercargill City Council
Location:
Invercargill

Seipp Construction was awarded the works to replace the existing stormwater system running beneath Gala Street in Invercargill.

This involved traffic management along the 0.5 km site that cut through two main intersections. The pipeline trench that varied in depth from 2.5 to 4.5 m was maintained by trench shields and sheet piles, and had to accommodate a number of other existing services commonly found in city streets.

Associated with the supply and installation of the new pipeline was the construction of 8 new manholes and 24 lateral drain reconnections with final activities including the abandonment of the old brick and pipe main as well as road surface reinstatement.
