- 430m of 315mm OD PE gravity stormwater pipeline
- Break-in and connect to existing manholes
- Construction of Avon River outfall
Replacement of this existing gravity stormwater pipeline presented a number of challenges. These included constructing an outfall into the Avon River; and the fact there was a 120m length of pipeline from the river outfall to the first manhole which was partially collapsed and silted.
To address these issues, we proposed pipe bursting as an alternative methodology. Using the largest pipe burster available in New Zealand, we successfully burst a fully collapsed line out to 315mm to accommodate the new PE pipe.
A major achievement of our project delivery was completion of a significant static pipe burst which, at over 200m long, was one of the largest successful bursts achieved in New Zealand.
Using pipe bursting methodology, we were able to complete this demanding project more than three weeks ahead of programme.
