Opawa Bridge Sheet Piling

Christchurch

Scope:

  • 40 lineal metres of sheet piling on either side of the bridge abutment
  • Road reinstatement

Project Description:

Due to earthquake damage, the Opawa / Heathcote River Bridge required re-levelling. As the piling works to achieve this were time-critical, we were awarded the contract on the strength of our piling expertise and access to superior in-house plant and resources.
To complete the sheet piling, the bridge abutments had to be raised – this process was complicated by the challenging ground conditions. Extremely tight tolerances were also demanded, due to the temporary works being undertaken. However, our team completed the sheet piling and reinstatement works to an extremely high level of quality and within the project’s tight timeframes.
Our performance was specifically commended by our client’s Project Manager:
“The sheet piling was carried out with surgical precision; these guys really are a team of experts.” Chris Gareze, Project Manager
